chainsaws” intensity of today’s haunted houses.” -Aspen.com

                                                           Colorado Springs

                                                                                                 Haunted Mines!

Presented by the Western Museum of Mining and Industry

Click here for the Haunted Mines October 2011 calendar!

What are the Haunted Mines?

The Haunted Mines are Colorado Springs' most exciting seasonal Halloween haunted attraction. This "haunted house" type of attraction is
constructed on the historic, 26 acre, centuries-old grounds of the Mining Museum, a former dairy farm from the 1800's.

The Haunted Mines haunted house is designed to thrill, scare, and entertain you. It is an indoor, outdoor, and underground fun experience that is
physically and psychologically challenging.

Where are the Haunted Mines?

The Haunted Mines are located at the Western Museum of Mining and Industry in Colorado Springs. It is just east of I-25 Exit 156a (the North Gate
Blvd/Gleneagle exit). You can see us from the highway. We are just across from the Air Force Academy's north gate.

Do I really have to crawl through small, dark tunnels?

YES! The smallest openings are a creepy cramped 20" square and a 15"x30" rectangular opening. This is not a problem for most people.
However, if you absolutely cannot handle it, make your fear known and a security guard will escort you through a much larger bypass. Note that
when you use a bypass passageway, you will not experience all the thrills and terrors we have in store for you.

Are the bats real?

Yes - The bats at the Haunted Mines haunted house are real. They usually migrate to New Mexico during October & November, so there's a
chance you'll see them. And please be kind to them: we like 'em 'cuz they eat 'skeeters and other flying bugs, making it a nicer place for the rest of
us.

What will I experience?

As a victim, er..., "Guest" of the Haunted Mines haunted house, you will be subjected to disorienting and distracting sounds, lights, fog & smoke,
wind, water, heat, and other theatrical special effects. You may be required to bend, jump, climb, dash, crawl, slide, or run through segments of the
haunted attraction; sometimes over moving, uneven, or unstable flooring and ground. Several parts of the attraction are designed to move you,
like an amusement park ride. You will interact with the characters of the attraction. At times, you will be in and move through very dark and
confined spaces. And mostly, you'll have a heck of a lot of fun!
How long does it last?

The haunted attraction portion (the "Haunt") takes most people about a half-hour to get through. It could be longer for some. But you may also be
waiting in line to enter. On busy nights -- Fridays and Saturdays -- wait times can be several hours. We have several types of entertainment to
occupy your time while you wait, including interaction with our monsters, and great horror movies on the big screen. Most people don't seem to
mind the wait. We offer a VIP Fastpass for an additional price that allows you to enter with less wait time.

The Haunted Mines haunted house in Colorado Springs is open "Dusk to Die" - from when it gets dark at night (dusk), until the lines DIE down.
Typically that's 7 to 10 on the weeknights that we're open., and 7 to Midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The Denver Press Club is the oldest press clubs in the United States. Built in 1925 and designed by the architects who also designed the Denver
Public Library, Daniels & Fisher department store, and the Red Rocks Amphitheater. Today, the club's nearly 500 members represent print and
broadcast media, advertising and public relations, and an assortment of other professions.

Spooky stories abound such as the ghostly footsteps heard in the 3rd floor ballroom when no one else is around, the flower girl captured on film in
the Foyer, and an apparition seen by many walking down the main floor staircase. Join SpiritPI as we discuss our investigation findings and search
for the spirits haunting this old and famous Denver Landmark.

                                                                              Civil War Commemorative Tour

at the Greenmount Cemetery

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

11am to 12 noon

This year's cemetery tour will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War.

Durango's Greenmount Cemetery (those of you who are returnees of several years will remember it's the beautiful cemetery with its own resident
herd of deer) will be the location for this tour, since it has an entire section devoted to burials of Union veterans. Live individuals, in period dress,
including both Union and Confederate uniforms, will portray some of these veterans, as well as some confederate veterans also buried in
Greenmount.

The ladies will present information as if they are the wives of the soldiers. An extra attraction this year will be a visit from President Lincoln,
portrayed by well-known Lincoln reenactor John Voehl, who will add a moving recital of the Gettysburg Address as part of the tour.

There is no charge for the tour, but donations will be gratefully accepted and will support the Animas Museum/La Plata County Historical Society.
The route of the tour involves walking on paths and grass, with some gentle hills. Nothing is highly strenous. Bring drinking water.

Alarmed by a series of unnatural events, a web of fear is slowly weaving through the inhabitants of Dr. Seward’s English sanatorium. Seward’s
niece Lucy grows weak from an unidentifiable ailment, unfamiliar pale women have been sighted, biting winds carry howls across the moor, and
bats are beating against the windowpanes. Wolves are gathering on the grounds of the neighboring Carfax Castle where a mysterious count from
Transylvania has recently taken up residence. A name is whispered among the town folk... “Dracula.” The Seward household waits apprehensively.
Unable to diagnose Lucy’s illness, Dr. Seward calls upon the help of Professor Van Helsing, a Dutch specialist in rare maladies, including
vampirism. Working together, they may be able to face the terror before them–and if they hold firm–conquer this evil completely.

In celebration of its 20th season, Debut Theatre Company resurrects the undead of the Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, just in time for the
Halloween season. This 1897 Gothic tale of terror embodied the superstitions of the 19th Century. Although he did not invent the vampire, Stoker’s
work singularly spawned generations of theatrical, film and television interpretations, making it one the most retold and adapted stories in
literature. Today’s vampires in general, and Dracula in particular, are presented as handsome, feeling, sensual characters. The actors of DTC will
bring to life the original vile creature that haunts the pages of Stoker’s novel.

So, fill your pockets with garlic, clasp a crucifix close, watch your neck, and join Lucy, Dr. Seward and Professor Van Helsing on their quest to
eradicate evil. But hurry… before darkness falls and it is too late to escape!

Note: Appropriate for family audiences (ages 6 years and up). Stage Effects include the use of stage fog, black lights, and “undead” actors
wandering through the audience. No blood or strobes.

The original stage version of the classic cult film from 1975, Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show is an outrageous parody of science fiction

The Haunts of Littleton Annual Walking Tour

Sat., October 22nd, 7:00 pm

Sat., October 22nd, 9:00 pm

Friday, October 28th, 8:00 pm

Join us for an evening of ghosts, nervous laughter and tongue-in-cheek tales. Two of Littleton's favorite sons, Brian Vogt (CEO of Denver Botanic
Gardens) and John Brackney (President & CEO of the South Metro Chamber) are the self-proclaimed "...protectors of all that is right and good in
the world" are the tour guides on this frightfully fun adventure!

You will learn of the tale of Alferd Packer, Littleton’s cannibal and of the spirits who Who knows what lurks behind closed doors...lurk in the old
Carnegie Library (now the Melting Pot) and why they are still there.

There are the Ladies of the night who look out of 2nd story windows, and the Littleton catacombs where strange sites and sounds eminate from the
dark...

Fairies and phantoms can be seen in gardens and lurking around corners and ghost trains rumbling through the night.

A great time will be had by young and old alike as you walk the streets and alleyways ever vigilant for the unexpected.

Proceeds benefit Historic Downtown Littleton projects to improve the visitor experience to the area.

The tours will begin in the parking lot at the Downtown Littleton Light Rail Station in front of Romancing the Bean and the 136-year-old D&RG
Railroad Station.

(Meet in front of the 136-year-old D&RG depot to count bodies and sign wills)....

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the tour so all souls can be counted and informed of the risks (we've only lost 8 in our previous excursions so
your chances of survival are fairly good).

* The Littleton Haunts Tour 2011 will be resurrected for 3 tours ONLY *

$13.00 per body over 13 ......... $2 for each 13 and under

Please RSVP for one of the Haunts below... We need to prepare the headstones!

You can RSVP online at: http://www.bestchamber.com/events/haunts.html

Reinke Brothers Haunted Mansion:  Admission includes a half-off coupon for more chills and screams at Reinke Brothers Haunted Mansion!

Be forewarned; you brave souls: space is limited and payment is cash only at the beginning of the tour.

Proceeds go to support Historic Downtown Littleton projects.

This is the 1st of only three tours in 2011: The 2nd tour is at 9:00 pm and the third on October 28th at 8:00 pm. The 7:00 tour is slightly more
family friendly - the 9:00 tour is slightly more scary - and the 8:00 tour - well, you will just have to take your chances now won't you?

Tours are rain, snow or dark and are for ages 5 - 100 (we might make exceptions for those older or younger as they are more tender and easily
overtaken.)

The ghost tours have been held during the Emma Crawford Festival since the beginning of the event and are a tradition for many residents and
visitors. The tours tell the stories of real people who lived or died in remarkable ways in Manitou Springs.

The ghosts come back to visit on this one night and the tours feature at least one new or different ghost each year. The tours, approximately 45
minutes long, depart from the Manitou Springs Heritage Center (517 Manitou Avenue) starting at 6:30 p.m. and leave every 15 minutes until the
last tour at 9:00 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale at the Manitou Springs Heritage Center for $10 adults and $5 children under 12. (Historic Manitou members receive $2 off
adult and $1 of children's tickets). Advance tickets are recommended as the tours usually sell out.

Also, for people interesting in helping, there are a few volunteer positions left for assisting with tour preparations and to "channel" the ghosts and
spirit guides the night of the tour. Anyone interested in "exercising" their dramatic talents or who want to work behind the scenes are encouraged
to contact the Heritage Center by October 22nd.

For information, to volunteer, and for tickets, contact the Manitou Springs Heritage Center by phone, 719-685-1454,

or visit
www.manitouspringsheritagecenter.org/, or come by the Heritage Center, 517 Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs, CO during the regular
Winter hours of Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 12:00-4:00 pm.

"Kinky thrills are provided knowing that nestled deep within the humbling, operatic grandeur that is Telluride, horrific, taboo-smashing
entertainments of every sort are unspooling across screens in front of the wide eyes of bolder cinema fans seeking to be scared. There's no other
dichotomy like this at work in any other horror festival I've attended or am aware of. It's a thing of twisted beauty.”
